Start with realistic inputs

Use your current figures where possible. Check the calculator’s assumptions and include relevant costs rather than relying on the default values.

Try different scenarios

Change your loan amount, interest rate or timeframe to explore how the result responds. Allow for circumstances that may change.

Discuss the bigger picture

Bring your estimates and questions to our team. We can explain how lender requirements and your circumstances may differ from a calculator scenario.

Understanding your results: Calculator outputs are estimates based on the inputs and assumptions used. They are not loan offers, approval decisions or personal financial advice. Actual lender calculations, rates, fees and eligibility may differ. Property growth, future interest rates and savings returns are not guaranteed.

Your questions answered

Mortgage calculator FAQs

Which mortgage calculator should I use first?

Start with the loan repayment calculator if you want to explore regular repayments. Use the borrowing power calculator for an indicative borrowing estimate, or the buying costs and deposit savings calculators when preparing for a purchase.

Will a calculator tell me exactly how much a lender will approve?

No. A calculator uses a simplified set of assumptions. Lenders apply their own criteria and assess your income, expenses, debts, credit information and proposed security before making a decision.

Why might a lender’s repayment figure differ from my estimate?

Differences can arise from interest calculation methods, payment dates, fees, repayment frequency and product terms. Check the assumptions shown on the individual calculator and use the lender’s documents for the repayment terms of an actual loan.

Does a refinancing estimate guarantee savings?

No. The result depends on the figures entered and may change with rates, costs or loan terms. Consider switching fees, any break costs and total interest over the proposed term before deciding.

Can GFS help me understand my calculator results?
